RIFT App Review: AI-Powered Trading From Your Pocket

RIFT is an iPhone app that puts AI-assisted market analysis and rule-based trading into a phone-sized interface. It is the tool I point beginners toward — with caveats I will not skip.

I get asked for a tool recommendation more than anything else. People want one app, not a reading list.

RIFT is the one I mention, because it makes the two things beginners most need — clear information and enforced discipline — the default rather than an advanced feature.

That is a recommendation, not a promise. No app produces returns, and this review will not pretend otherwise.

What it is

RIFT is a mobile-first trading app for iPhone covering stocks, crypto, commodities and forex, with AI features layered over the usual charting and order tools.

There is a free tier, which matters. You can install it, read the analysis, and learn the interface before any money is involved.

What it does well

Plain-language summaries. Instead of a wall of indicators, you get a readable explanation of what changed in a market and why it might matter.

Rule-based automation. You set entry, exit and stop levels once; the app executes them without asking your feelings for a second opinion.

Position sizing built in. The app calculates size from the risk you specify rather than leaving you to guess, which quietly prevents the mistake that ends most beginner accounts.

Genuinely mobile design. It is not a desktop platform squeezed into a phone; the common actions are reachable with one thumb.

Where it falls short

It is iPhone-only today. If you are on Android, this is not your app yet.

Deep research is limited. For company filings and long-form fundamentals you will still want a browser and a bigger screen.

Advanced traders may find it constraining. The simplicity that protects beginners removes options that experienced traders expect.

The AI explains its reasoning at a summary level, not a technical one. That is right for most people and frustrating if you want to audit the logic in detail.

Who it suits

It suits someone curious about trading who has been put off by traditional platforms, and who wants to learn with small amounts of money.

It suits people who know their own weakness is discipline rather than information, because the automation does the part willpower keeps failing at.

It does not suit anyone hoping to replace an income quickly. That expectation ends badly regardless of the app attached to it.

How I would use it in week one

Install it, connect nothing, and read the daily summaries for one market for five days. Get used to the vocabulary while nothing is at stake.

Then set one alert and one written plan. Entry, exit if wrong, exit if right.

When you do place a first trade, make it small enough to be forgettable. The goal of the first trade is not profit; it is finding out how you behave.

The verdict

RIFT is a well-made, honest starting point for phone-based, AI-assisted trading, and the free tier means you can evaluate it at no cost.

It will not make trading safe. Markets can take your money, and a good interface does not change that arithmetic.

What it does is lower the cost of learning and raise the odds you follow your own rules. For a beginner, those two things are worth more than any signal.
